Umbrella Insurance for Individuals
An Insurance Policy That Provides an Extra Layer of Protection
An umbrella insurance gives you coverage beyond your standard insurance policies. Not having adequate coverage can leave you exposed.
Hylant's personal insurance expert can help you understand your situation and get the right coverage for you.
Why would you want a personal umbrella policy?
Sometimes standard insurance isn't enough. That's where an umbrella policy comes in.
Here's an example of why you might want one: You're at fault for an accident that injures another driver. Your auto policy liability coverage pays up to your limit; let's say it's $250,000. But the other driver has a high-paying job, and she can't work for six months because of her injuries. Now she's suing you for $1 million, and your car insurance only covers $250,000. Your personal umbrella policy can cover the difference up to your policy limits.
What is covered in an Umbrella policy?
Umbrella policies can cover the following:
- Property damage. The policy can provide coverage in addition to that of your homeowners policy for damage to your property or someone else’s.
- Bodily injury. The policy can cover costs if you are involved in an incident that hurts someone else.
- Personal injury. An umbrella policy can provide coverage in the event of false arrest, invasion of privacy, or defamation lawsuits.
What Our Clients Are Saying
My biggest relief in being with Hylant is that I feel like all of the t's are crossed and the i's are dotted. I know we may pay a little more in premiums, but I have always felt like we get what we pay for!
