Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements (ICHRAs)
In 2020, Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements (ICHRAs) were introduced as an option to replace group health insurance with individual-market options. ICHRAs enable employers to take a defined contribution approach and allocate pre-tax funds for employees to select and purchase health insurance plans from the individual marketplace. Unlike traditional group health plans, ICHRAs allow employees to choose from the full range of options available for a plan that best meets their individual needs, fostering employee choice, empowerment and responsibility.
