A home healthcare franchise with 650 locations needed a benefits strategy that would work across a large and highly varied workforce. Caregivers often worked inconsistent or mid-range schedules, which made it difficult for them to fit into traditional eligibility models. Standard participation requirements also made many carriers hesitant to underwrite the program, limiting options for franchise owners seeking to offer meaningful benefits. At the same time, any solution had to be practical across locations of different sizes, simple to administer, and affordable enough to support long-term planning. The client needed a program that could serve employees in multiple states while helping local employers stay competitive in recruiting and retaining caregivers.
Solution
Hylant built a custom employee benefits program designed around the realities of the workforce rather than the limits of a standard product. After leading a formal RFP process, Hylant partnered with a national insurance carrier to create an employer-paid plan that provided life, dental, and vision coverage across 48 states. Hylant also helped shape a “mid-time” eligible class so more caregivers could access coverage that fit their work patterns. To strengthen the value of the plan, the solution included an employee assistance program (EAP) with up to five mental health visits annually for covered members, along with will and trust guidance, travel health coverage, and financial assistance resources. Hylant also provided ACA pay or play modeling to help franchise employers better understand compliance exposure and cost considerations.
