Recognizing the Next Generation of Leaders in Insurance and Risk Management
September 15, 2025
Toledo, OH September 15, 2025 — Hylant is proud to announce that three of our outstanding summer interns have been selected as recipients of $5,000 academic scholarships from The Council Foundation, part of the Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers (CIAB). These scholarships recognize students who have demonstrated exceptional promise in the commercial insurance brokerage industry.
This year’s recipients—Adan Reed, Brian Voetberg, and Mia Mitchell—stood out among their peers for their professionalism, leadership, and contributions to their teams. We are thrilled to celebrate their achievements and are grateful for the impact they’ve made at Hylant.
Adan Reed
Senior, Florida State University
Major: Marketing
Hylant Team: Jacksonville Sales Team – Employee Benefits
Adan supported the Jacksonville Sales team this summer and will continue working with Hylant this fall, assisting our licensing team. On campus, he serves as President and Co-Founder of the AI in Business Club and is a member of Gamma Iota Sigma.
Michael Strahl, Market President, shared:
“Despite him taking on more than expected, he asks for feedback at every juncture, constructive criticism if applicable, and at the end of the day, he simply asks for more. This mindset has even led to an introduction from his personal network that has our team in front of a potential sale. His internship will lead to our office booking revenue that materialized fully from his efforts. He is the future we as an industry are hoping to secure.”
Brian Voetberg
Junior, Butler University
Majors: Finance, Risk Management & Insurance, Spanish
Hylant Team: Captive Consulting
Brian worked with our Captive Consulting team this summer, contributing to strategic projects and best practices. At Butler, he is a Resident Advisor, President of the Financial Management Association and Wrestling Club, a tutor, and a member of Butler ALD and Gamma Iota Sigma.
Caroline Erdman, Captive Consultant, noted:
“Brian consistently demonstrates a high level of initiative, responsibility, and leadership within our team. He approaches challenges with a positive attitude and a thoughtful, problem-solving mindset, often going above and beyond to contribute to the success of our projects. His work continues to add significant value to our team’s ability to provide best-in-class results to our colleagues, clients, and prospects.”
Mia Mitchell
Senior, University of Central Florida
Majors: Business Administration & Integrated Business
Hylant Team: Orlando Employee Benefits Service Team
Mia supported the Orlando Employee Benefits team this summer and continues to do so this fall. She hopes to join Hylant full-time after graduating in December. On campus, she is a Writing Consultant, and a member of the Financial Management Association and Women Student Union.
Fred Cruz, Client Service Executive, shared:
“What stands out most about Mia is her authenticity and kindness. She is a genuinely warm and collaborative individual who thrives in team settings and builds strong, positive relationships with colleagues. Her excellent communication skills and natural ability to connect with others make her a valued partner and a joy to work with.”
We congratulate Adan, Brian, and Mia on this prestigious recognition and thank them for their contributions to Hylant. Their dedication and talent reflect the future of our industry, and we look forward to seeing all they accomplish in the years ahead.
