September 10, 2019

TOLEDO, Ohio Sept. 10, 2019 – Jeff Borngesser, a student at Florida State University and a multi-year summer intern at Hylant, has been selected as recipient of a $5,000 academic scholarship for the 2019-20 academic year, as announced by The Council Foundation.

“Jeff is a hardworking young man and very deserving of this recognition,” said Mark Nixon, President, Hylant–Jacksonville, Florida. “He consistently demonstrates initiative and a passion for learning about the insurance brokerage industry. The real-life experience Jeff gained during his Hylant internships will serve him well as he prepares to begin his career.”

The Council Foundation’s mission is to bring fresh, diverse talent into the brokerage sector by way of internships with member firms of The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers. In awarding the scholarships, an independent selection committee looks for candidates who have the potential to excel as leaders and contributors in the commercial insurance brokerage business sector.

Borngesser is one of 75 college students across the country who received a Council Foundation scholarship this year. He will graduate in 2020 with a degree in risk management and insurance.

“The insurance brokerage industry offers many opportunities and career paths for young college graduates,” said Deb Bubp, Chief Talent Officer, Hylant. “Through internships, we introduce students studying a variety of disciplines to the important work we do for people and businesses in local communities and around the world.”
